Traditional Authority- “This is power based on long-standing beliefs about who should have control and is often vested in particular positions within an organizational hierarchy.” (Miller, 2015) This being said each employee has a different set of power, following the hierarchy of the organization.Ĭharismatic Authority- “This is power based on an individuals personality and ability to attract and interact with followers.” (Miller, 2015) A good example of these would be politics, or advocates promoting a movement. Weber continues with his theory, indicating that there is three possible grounds for authority. (Miller, 2015)Ĭlearly defined Hierarchy- This is where you establish, bosses, their bosses, and employees. Although we can’t break this theory down into elements, there are six facets of bureaucracy. Weber believed that bureaucratic organizations would eventually dominate in society because of their technical superiority. Max Weber’s Theory of Bureaucracy has been termed an “ideal type” theory.
